The Artists

Lords of the Samurai Exhibition
by: Kerry Marshall

The Asian Art Museum of San Francisco commissioned me to re-create the interior of a Samurai period house for the use within their education gallery. The project included two Douglas Fir shoji screen which opened upon a photo mural of a Japanese garden; an adjoining Tokonoma (alcove) with 'Sinker' Redwood staggered shelves and small Tansu; and a surrounding tatami mat floor with a wood border. This will be used throughout the summer as an educational experience.
