Iris head board
by: Paul Reiber

I am a great admirer of Iris's. In my garden I have perhaps twenty different varieties of this wonderful flower. I have often carved them on articles of furniture. These are the native north coast variety, carved at about 3/8th inch relief. The drawing is inspired by Japanese black ink painting. and the slightly down curved top rail and black lacquered frame reflect at this influence.
This is a wall mounted heard board in cherry with a black lacquered frame. The carving is in cherry wood from a tree with particularly beautiful deep color.
