The Artists

courthezon 2003
by: Stefan Furrer

This wine presenter, made from a stave of an old wine barrel, holds up to nine bottles of wine. The stave stands tall on a heavy, 1/2" thick steel base with its gravity nicely centered.
To bring the wine from cellar to dining room temperature is a crucial act and needs to be done slowly. In French it is called "chambrer". This piece is meant to do exactly that and display the wine bottles in an attractive way at the same time.
I call my piece "Courthezon" in homage of the little village in the Rhone Valley where I used to spend many vacations during spring and fall breaks.
