My work in wood embraces practicality folded into an aesthetic of simplicity. A few guiding principles have worked their way into my life: Do as well as you can. I work with the expectation that my furniture will last many generations; I only use solid wood.
My letterpress design skills, and the Fine Furnituremaking guide me in making furniture. Spend time with one's children and partner. My husband, our three kids, and I design and build together. Make change from the ground up.
I use local, often recycled woods.
Follow one's heart. A Springer has entered my heart and I have begun making dog furniture (see highdoggiediner.com). Following my heart has created a varied life. In retirement, I'm circling back to my origins. You'll find me in our wood shop (with my father's hand planes) or in the garden.
Visits are encouraged.
